Tip of the Week: Tips to Help You Manage Your Inbox

Managing your email can be challenging, especially if you are a business owner. We’re sure you get countless emails on a day-to-day basis, and it can be difficult to assign them priority or triage them accordingly. All of this leads to one messy inbox that can get in the way when you need simplicity most. How can you make sure your inbox’s organization is not holding you back from achieving maximum productivity?

We’ve put together these tips you can use to keep your inbox under control. We hope you find them useful!

Limit Your Messages Sent

This is one of the easier ways you can manage the emails you receive. To receive fewer emails in your inbox, it helps to send fewer emails, too. Sometimes you can avoid a lengthy email chain by making a quick phone call or having an in-person conversation. It might not seem like much, but it helps even just a little bit when you don’t have to send or receive quite so many messages.

Unsubscribe from Unnecessary Newsletters

How often do you see a great email newsletter that you think will be really interesting, only to read it for about a week or two, then completely ignore every other issue that gets sent your way? Unfortunately, this is something that happens all too often. In cases like this, it’s best to unsubscribe so the emails don’t clog your inbox. You can also unsubscribe from other emails you might receive, as some organizations or retailers will automatically sign you up when you create an account. Look for the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of these emails to be removed from their lists.

Let Technology Solutions Guide Your Way

If you find your email inbox receives too many messages for its own good, then there are ways to make it so you receive fewer emails, particularly the disruptive ones that waste your time or are just straight-up dangerous. A spam filter can keep the majority of malicious or wasteful emails out of your inbox entirely. Furthermore, if you find you have a ton of important emails that need to be documented, but you are finding that they get in the way, you can utilize an email archiving system to store them in an encrypted location for later viewing.
